Writing Tips
The main goal of article writing is to show your expertise on a certain subject. Your readers are usually looking for an expert opinion or information on a subject, by ensuring your professionalism and uniqueness of the information provided in the article, they will want to know more about you and favour your articles in the future.
Obviously, articles provide exposure of your website and products. In this way article writing forms an advertising vehicle.
Here there are two things to bear in mind :
Sales & Publicity - Most writers own a website, and a reader who wishes to know more will probably search for the link to your website. Thanks to the article, your site will be found by the reader. Note that once an article is syndicated, it will provide links from different sources - not just from the ArticleNook.com directory.
Searcg Engines - Inbound links help promoteyour website by offering qualified and authority links for search engines. The more an author is exposed and spread across the "web", the more it help’s your site's optimization.
The following are some tips on how to maximise ArticleNooks potential:
- Article Title - The article title is the first thing a reader spots, as do search engines. Make your article stand out by having a clear and convincing title, one that will "lure" the viewer to keep reading. We recommend you use relevant keywords in the article's title. Do not Keyword stack a title as this will work against you. Remember, readers are trying to filter for subject so make the tile meaningful.
- Article Summary - The article summary is the second stage in attracting the reader. The summary is an overview of the article, showing the reader what to expect from the article. TMake it well written and convincing, avoid just copying a paragraph of your article.
- Article Content - The content of the article is the core element of the whole process. The article itself is a great opportunity to place relevant keywords in order to improve search engine indexing of the article. Use links to information resources (to improve credibility) but do not overdo it. But the most important thing is QUALITY CONTENT. Article writing serves to establish your reputation, and for that matter the reader must feel they are reading relevant and meaningful information or they will go elsewhere.
- If English is not your first language, and even if it is, we recommend that you carefully proofread your articles before you post them.
- Author Bio - If you have managed to impress your readers with your knowledge, chances are that they will want to read more of your articles, visit your website, or contact you. The author bio section is a good place to tell your readers a bit about yourself and to include contact information such as your name, phone number, e-mail contact (be wary of spam) and a link to your website.
Hints on writing and preparing an Article
There are a few basic Do's and Don'ts with writing and submitting articles.
- Write your article off-line in a word processor. Use a spell checker etc and gather your thoughts before you submit.
- Don't try to format the article before you upload it as this formatting will NOT be carried over.
- When you are ready to upload, paste the article in as text. While in the Editor, Right-click and select Paste Text.
Word processors add formatting commands that simply do not work here - so don't try to paste from MS-Word etc. - Use the editing functions of our Editor to make it look "pretty". BUT - don't over work the article or we may edit out excessive formatting - or at worst - delete the article. You should be aiming for readability - not visual impact.
Having said that - you can add images, just use the Image Insert button on the Editor. Images should be of the allowed filetypes and the size preferably less than 50K to speed loading. If you wish to place an image that needs larger formats - contact us and we will assist. Abuse of this feature will lead to blocking of that author.
Images should relate directly to and support the article. When inserting an image - you will be asked for a URL, ie it must be on a Web-Server. One of the easiest ways to do this is load your image to the FREE Image Host such as Imageshack - (read below).
Adding Images : Start a web-browser and open www.imageshack.com. Follow the instructions to upload your image/s. You will be given a URL that is a DIRECT LINK to your uploaded image. This is the URL you must use when asked to insert an image in our story editor. This way your images are stored, forever & safely for both your use and for your story with no danger to your privacy. Please try not use any more than (1) image.
