Adding Flash to Articles
The Rough Guide on How to embed a Flash (SWF) Presentation in Article NOOK
Pictures say a thousand words and Flash, although not for everyone can really bring an article to life. Lets say you want to talk about or show some really great teasing images of a travel destination, one image may not be enough. But a slide show would be great.
The System and Article Editor is about to be upgraded to make Media (Flash etc) embedding easier with just a button click, But until then, here's the "long way" to make sure it works properly.
Get the Flash Embed Code Here - Please edit the URL to locate your SWF file.
The Rules of Embedding SWF in ArticleNOOK Articles :
- Your SWF file must be hosted on your own site or on a file sharing resource.
- You need to be able to access the actual storage location of the file ie the URL for your Flash presentation. It must be "running" properly on your Host.
- Write your article as your normally would and make sure it adheres to our editorial guidelines
- Copy the Flash Code above to Notepad or similar.
- Edit the Flash URL, storage folder and SWF Filename to yours, edit the width & height to suite then copy the new code
- Go towards the middle or bottom of your article and place your cursor where you want to insert the Flash movie
- Click the HTML button on the Toolbar
- Paste in the updated Flash Code
- Note : Place the Flash towards the bottom of the article or it may be pushed down by our Google adverts (how we keep your article submissions free)
- Save the article as a Draft and then Preview your work.
- When ready, press Publish and we will review your work
Having a media presentation such as a slide show can dramatically improve the appeal of an article. Webmasters get a great article and a lively presentation. Even better, they dont have to worry about file uploads and such as the Flash is run from your site for ANY website that picks up your article.
